Capture the flag

The goal of this competition is to find as many misconfigurations in the network as possible that can be accounted as security threats. Moreover a solution on how to fix this problem should be reported.

There will be a network built specially for the LuSec Conference, which will include several servers running various services and connected to the switched network. The access to this network will be given via open wireless network, which was accidentaly left open by a bad employee.

You can use whatever software means to achieve your goal. The only thing you are not allowed is to touch the configuration (for example, if you have the root access to the server, you cannot change the password or reconfigure firewall so that others cannot access it anymore). But don't forget that getting root will not mean you won the competition! The maximum number of vulnerabilities with explanations on fixing them claims the prize.

Crime forensics

For this competition you will need to use your forensics skill and very basic Unix knowledge. Use any tools you need for this purpose. To get started download this file. It contains all the information you need.

An e-mail was sent by some unknown person to another person. Your goal is to retrieve the parties involved (e-mail addresses, passwords, e-mail contents incuding text and attachments) and extract the text in the file conference.txt.

The winner will be the first to send all this information to the e-mail address that was used as a recipient in the e-mail exchange.

Good luck! In case of any questions, you can contact me via e-mail below.
